BrewIt helps you keep a coffee journal, discover coffee shops, and share selected visits. This policy explains the information used by the app and the choices available to you.

Information you provide

When you create an account, your email address and authentication credentials are processed through Supabase. Your account also has an identifier, username, and display name. You can add an avatar, biography, home city, and profile link.

Your journal can contain the coffee shop visited, drink names and preparation methods, ratings, notes, photos, dates, and whether an entry is shared. BrewIt also stores the actions needed for its social features: follows and follow requests, likes, comments, saved shops, favourites, and blocked accounts. Account records include acceptance of the community guidelines.

If you report content, the report includes its category, any explanation you provide, references to the accounts or content involved, and a snapshot of the reported content so it can be reviewed after it changes.

How information is used

BrewIt uses this information to sign you in, synchronize your journal, display profiles and selected shared entries, calculate journal and shop summaries, provide social features, and handle reports and blocking.

The app does not integrate advertising trackers or use your journal to target advertisements.

Location and photos

Location access is optional. When you allow it, BrewIt uses your location to help find nearby coffee shops. Nearby searches and map display use Apple MapKit; shop searches also use BrewIt's Supabase backend. You can change location access in iOS Settings. BrewIt does not request background location access.

You choose the photos added to entries or your avatar. The app uploads those images to its storage provider. Saving an exported card to your photo library requires the relevant iOS permission. You can instead use the system share sheet to choose another destination.

Visibility and sharing

An entry marked private is kept out of the shared feed. Shared-entry visibility also depends on your account's privacy setting and follow relationships. Your basic profile identity can appear in search and social interactions; a private account is not an anonymous account.

When you export a card or journal file and send it to another app or person, that destination receives the information in the exported file. Changing an entry's visibility or deleting it in BrewIt cannot recall copies already exported or saved by someone else.

Storage and service providers

BrewIt uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, and photo storage. Apple provides the map and nearby-place services used by the app. These providers process information necessary to deliver those functions.

Photo storage uses private buckets and time-limited access links. Those controls do not prevent someone who can view an image from saving a separate copy.

The app stores a local cache to make previously loaded content available on your device. Signing out removes the signed-in user's application data cache. Authentication sessions use the operating system's secure credential storage through the authentication SDK.

Keeping and deleting information

Account and journal information is retained to provide your account and its features. You can edit or delete individual entries and delete your account from Settings.

Deleting an individual entry removes the entry from the app's journal and feed. Its previously uploaded image file may remain in storage until account cleanup; removing an entry is not a promise that every stored image copy is immediately erased.

Account deletion first removes your uploaded entry photos and avatar from the active storage buckets, then deletes your account and associated journal and social records. If the process fails, your account remains available for retry; some photos may already have been removed before that failure.

Moderation reports can remain after an account is deleted. Their account references are cleared, but report details and snapshots may still contain information from the original report. Copies you or other people exported outside BrewIt are not removed by account deletion.

Service logs and backups

Hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request details, and service logs to operate and secure their services. Deleting active account records does not necessarily immediately erase provider logs or backup copies; their retention depends on the service and its configuration.

This website

This support site is hosted by GitHub Pages. It has no advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, or embedded social widgets. GitHub may process technical access information to deliver and secure the site. If you email support, your message and contact information are processed by our email provider to help us respond.

Policy changes

Updates to this policy will be posted here with a revised effective date. Material changes will also be communicated in the app or by email when appropriate.

Your choices and contact

You can update your profile, change account privacy, choose whether each entry is shared, remove entries, manage follows and blocked accounts, and delete your account in Settings. iOS Settings controls the app's location, camera, and photo permissions.
